Team Nila – Frequently Asked Questions 

 

1. What is Team Nila? 

Team Nila is the Sports Volunteer branding under the umbrella of Sport Singapore. To create a common identity for sports volunteers, ‘Team Nila' was launched on 24 February 2015. This unique bonding of volunteerism through sport forge a sense of belonging and instil pride amongst all sports volunteers. Since then, Team Nila has morphed into a nation-wide sport volunteer movement that has the potential to draw even more volunteers across diverse segments of Singapore. 

2. How do I become a Team Nila? 

You can sign up for a new account here! Upon successful account creation, an activation email will be sent to you. If you do not receive the activation email within a day, please send us an email at admin@volunteers.sg.  

3. Am I eligible to become a Team Nila? 

Anyone can be a member of the Team Nila family! We welcome people from all walks of life be it a Singapore Citizen, Permanent Resident or Foreigners residing in Singapore.  

Please note that we do not provide sponsor letter for overseas foreigners to travel to Singapore to volunteer. Overseas foreigners will have to bear the cost of theirown airfares, VISA (if applicable), meals and accommodations. 

4. I am a Volunteer Leader at other organisation(s), can I apply to be a Team Nila Volunteer Leader? 

Please send us an email at admin@volunteers.sg to share about your volunteering experiences! We will review and confirm your application status. 

The email should include the following: 

  • Name of the organisation(s) that you have volunteered for  

  • Volunteering Period 

  • Appointment held (if any) 

5. What type of volunteering opportunities is available for Team Nila? 

Team Nila can look forward to volunteer in areas such as: 

  • Sport Competitions / Marathons 

  • Sport Festivals Ambassador 

  • Active Health Ambassador 

  • Team Nila Recruitment Ambassador 

  • Sport Massage for patients at nursing home 

  • Represent Team Nila to be ambassador for other public agencies such as, Public Utilities Board (PUB) Water Saving Campaign Ambassador 

This is by no means an exhaustive list of what Team Nila can do. We are constantly working with partners to bring in more volunteering opportunities to our Team Nila! 

6. What is the commitment and frequency?  

We strongly encourage Team Nila to attend all the shifts that they have signed up for and in the event that you are unable to attend your shift, please inform the organiser before the shift starts.

7. Do I have to attend all the training session(s)? 

You should attend the training session(s) if it has been stated as compulsory to complete before deployment. If you are unable to attend the training session(s), please inform the organiser prior to the training date. 

8. Is there any age restriction to become a Team Nila? 

We welcome Team Nila of all ages! However, for some events, there may be an age restriction imposed by the Event Organiser. (Eg. Parent/Guardian presence will be required for volunteer who is below 15 years old as of event date.)

9. Do I need to have specific skillset to become a Team Nila? 

You don't need to possess certain skillset to be a Team Nila. Prior to the event, there will be either an event briefing / training / just-in-time training provided to better equip you with the skills required for your designated roles.  

If you have a special skillset and would like to share with fellow Team Nila, we will be glad to provide you with the necessary support. Do write to us at admin@volunteers.sg

10. What can I look forward to becoming a Team Nila? 

The key benefit of being a Team Nila is the friendships that you will forge during events as you will get to know many like-minded Team Nila just like YOU!  

Apart from getting to know new friends, you may also get to attend training/upgrading courses offered by Sport Singaporeas a form of enrichment and/or to better equip you with the necessary skills to carry out your duties.  

11. Do I get paid for my volunteering service? 

Nope. In contribution to our society, we believe in the spirit of altruism! As much as possible, the organisers will work to provide water/snack/meal during your deployment. For selected events that take place at wee hours, transport allowance may be provided in the form of transport voucher/ez-link card etc.  

12. How can I reset my account password? 

  • Click on "Forget Password?" and input your email address/username. 

  • Answer the Security Question 

  • Instructions to reset your account password will be sent to your registered email address 

In the event that you are unable to reset the password or do not receive the reset instruction via the registered email address, please send us an email at admin@volunteers.sg

13. How do I activate my Team Nila account? 

Please send us an email at admin@volunteers.sg to obtain a new activation link.
Your email should include:. 

  • Full Name 

  • Mobile Number 

  • Email address 

14. How do I retrieve my volunteering record? 

Upon logging in to your account, click on "My Volunteer Hours". You may select the specific period that you would like to see and subsequently, click on "Generate My Volunteer Hours" to save the record in a PDF letter format. 

The service hour letter will serve as a document to support your service hours endorsed for Values-in-Action (VIA) by your school.  

If your service hours were not recorded accurately, please send us an email at admin@volunteers.sg with the following information:

  • Event Title 

  • Date 

  • Shift timing (start & end time) 

  • Organiser whom you have liaised with
